Description
A ‘lockup’ refers to type set on a press bed and secured in place. ‘LOCKDOWN LOCKUPS’ is a series of collaborative letterpress prints inspired by and created during the global COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in London 2020.
All works are made in isolation, serving as future souvenirs of this strange and uncertain time.
This is the 17th collaboration between The Printer’s Devil and invited creatives. Naomi Kosaka, artist, printmaker, and original Printer’s Devil, shares her 2020 story of philosophy, love, and first-time motherhood, which completely transformed her perspective.
Based in Tokyo, Naomi’s artistic voice is humorous, thought-provoking, and honest, encouraging viewers to see things from different angles. SOME THINGS CHANGE – SOME REMAIN THE SAME. Like a river that’s the same but different each day, so are we.

Beautiful letterpress print with deep personal meaning. The quality of the Milkweed paper feels premium, and the handmade craftsmanship is evident. At 450mm x 635mm, it’s a substantial piece that makes a statement. While the price is a bit steep, owning a signed, limited edition print from Naomi Kosaka’s lockdown collection feels worthwhile. The Ken Burns effect would do justice to its evolving narrative if displayed digitally. Shipping was careful, though framing options are limited to local delivery only.
